  2.                 Directory Opus 5.5 is now available! 
  3.  
  4. GPSoftware  demonstrates  its  continuing  support for the Amiga with the
  5. release  of  the new version the Amiga world's most popular directory and
  6. file management utility.  After more than 12 months of extra development,
  7. Directory Opus 5.5 is more of a new version than just a simple update and
  8. contains many changes and enhancements over the original product.
  9.  
  10. After  receiving  many  comments  and useful suggestions from Opus users,
  11. almost  every facet of the new program has been examined and subjected to
  12. user  scrutiny, backed up by extensive field testing from very persistent
  13. Beta  testers.   This  release  extends  the original Opus 5 concepts and
  14. provides  many  significant  improvements  in  both operational power and
  15. usability.   From  the  feedback we have received so far we are confident
  16. that you will enjoy this new product more than ever!

  18. Take  a  look  at  the  following enhancements to see why an upgrade is a

  21.      . A  new Icon Action Mode gives all the power of name mode Listers
  22.      but with icons. 
  23.  
  24.      . Button banks and Listers need  no longer  be activated  first in
  25.      order to see right and middle mouse button clicks.  
  26.  
  27.      . WorkBench  Replacement Mode has been enhanced. Use Opus 5.5 with
  28.      complete confidence to replace the standard Workbench.
  29.  
  30.      . An integrated OpusFTP capability lets you access remote Internet
  31.      sites directly from standard Opus Listers.
  32.  
  33.      . Button  banks can now be borderless with a sleek minimal dragbar
  34.      instead of a full window border.
  35.  
  36.      . New Filetype-specific pop-up menus allow special menus for icons
  37.      and files.   Use Filetypes to add custom menus for different types
  38.      of files and icons. 
  39.  
  40.      . Custom buttons have a pop-up menu giving  access to  an extended
  41.      selection of commands.

  43.      . New independent HotKeys are now supported.
  44.  
  45.      . New  Scripts system  allows functions  to be  executed upon most
  46.      system events.

  48.      . Custom menus have  been improved  with multiple  user menus with
  49.      sub items.

  51.      . New  Automatic Filetype  Creator allows  you to  create and test
  52.      Filetypes with ease.

  54.      . A font viewer is now included.  Just double-click  on a  font to
  55.      view it.

  57.      .  Listers  now  have  field  titles,  single-click  re-sorting by
  58.      fields, plus a new version field which reads  the internal version
  59.      information from each file.

  61.      . New  colour remapping of button and icon images with support for
  62.      'Magic Workbench' and similar systems.

  64.      . Cybergraphics RTG now supported.

  66.      . You can now selectively hide unwanted drive icons from  the Opus
  67.      main window.

  69.      . Enhanced  clipboard support provides full cut, copy and paste in
  70.      gadgets and file Listers.

  72.      . Listers are no longer blocked while busy  - you  can now resize,
  73.      iconify, and scroll busy Listers.

  75.      .  Icon  and  Lister  snapshots  are  now  stored  separately from
  76.      Workbench.

  78.      . Listers can now display a background picture or pattern.

  80.      . A new internal  Opus CLI  allows you  quickly test  commands and
  81.      ARexx scripts.

  83.      . Several  new internal  commands and many new ARexx commands have
  84.      been added or extended with new features. You can now even add you
  85.      own internal commands with ARexx.
